Karla began her volunteer services with AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP (retired senior volunteer program) in 2021. She volunteers at The Grand Rapids Police Department where she patrols the neighborhoods checking on vacationing neighbors houses, enforcing handicapped parking and reporting city ordinance violations. When she is not helping to keep the city safe, Karla is involved in our Pen Pal program, corresponding with a local school student and
then meeting them after months of writing. Karla is also on our RSVP "Ready to Serve" list which consists of any and many activities in the area that are in need of volunteers for the day/or a few hours. Whenever Karla is asked to help, she always steps up. She reads at school during March reading month, puts together blankets on MLK Day of Service for children in need, and helps in many other ways. Karla is fun, helpful, and a joy to be around. With over 1,000 hours of service, we are so happy and grateful to have her as one of our top volunteers for our Senior Volunteer Program!
