Hero Story
For nearly 90 years, Genisys Credit Union has been dedicated to Michigan communities, working alongside our neighbors to address their unique needs. Our branches are not only financial institutions, but rather trusted partners in supporting the individuals and families we serve.
Through our partnerships with local nonprofits, schools, and community organizations, we’ve created meaningful connections. Each year, our team, their families and friends, volunteer over 5,700 hours at more than 1,000 community events, supporting causes that help our community members with housing, food insecurity, and environmental conversation.
For the last decade, Genisys has supported Walk for Warmth initiatives in Michigan’s Oakland & Macomb counties and hunger relief in Genesee County. Walk for Warmth campaigns work to help households by providing assistance for heating expenses during the winter months as it is estimated by the United Way that 44% of households in Southeast Michigan struggle to meet their basic needs. To date, the credit union has donated over $480,000 to these programs in partnership with Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency, Macomb Community Action, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. This has been made possible by the collective efforts of the credit union team in all departments, their Oakland, Macomb, Genesee, and St. Clair county branches, and generous donations from their member base.
Working in partnership with agencies like OLHSA, MCA, and the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan allow Genisys to be part of an interconnected solution to create an environment for community members who need assistance.
A cornerstone of community action lies in giving back to those who have made such philanthropic efforts possible, trusting Genisys as their credit union of choice. There is no greater feeling of the heart than being able to support community members when they need it most. The credit union will continue to partner with area agencies, ensuring those who need support have access to necessary resources. At Genisys, the team is Committed to Community every step of the way.
