From the outside it looks like a warehouse, but inside it's a sea of activity as the team works to help empower women to lift their families out of poverty. The women Zaman serves typically subsist on less than $12,000 a year. Many or single mothers with children and the breadwinners for the family from some of the poorest zip codes in Michigan. While Zaman specializes in helping immigrant and refugee women, its doors are open to any women and children in need.
What truly separates Zaman is that they put people at the center of everything they do. They recognize the humanity in the people they serve and help restore their dignity when poverty has stripped it away. They have helped over 500,000 people in Southeast Michigan and more than 5 million in the world. Zaman is a remarkable organization with amazing people and as its nears its 30th anniversary, Zaman deserves to be recognized as the heroes they are. By supporting Zaman I am able to make a tangible difference in the world, and help people not just in that moment, but for generations to come.
