Hero Story

The Mosaic Film Experience has profoundly impacted youth engagement and education in West Michigan by empowering underrepresented students to explore creative careers through storytelling. Since its inception in 2012, Mosaic Film Experience has broken barriers for 20,000 students facing economic, racial, and geographic challenges, providing them with tools and mentorship to share their stories and envision a future in creative industries. Through innovative programming, including the Mosaic Mobile film competition and the Career Pathways program, the organization fosters personal expression, career exploration, and digital literacy, ensuring that young voices are heard and valued.

Mosaic Film Experience creates lasting community impact by providing year-round educational experiences that expose students to creative career pathways and personal growth opportunities. The Career Pathways Program, launched in 2024, introduced hands-on, career-focused learning to middle school students at Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy, CA Frost, and Southwest Middle High School. This program will expand to include Ottawa Hills High School in 2025, further deepening its influence.

The annual Mosaic Event connects students with industry professionals, inspiring career aspirations while building professional networks. In 2024, guest speakers included creative leaders from Electronic Arts, MasterClass, and local West Michigan organizations, offering diverse perspectives and mentorship. Additionally, the Mosaic Mobile film competition allows students to develop technical and creative skills through storytelling, with the largest cash prizes awarded to student filmmakers in the region. These sustained initiatives empower young creatives to envision and actively shape their futures.
