What makes Trina special is that she has become a familiar face in our community and the relationships she is able to build among the people in Muskegon, Ottawa, and Kent County is obvious. From my point of view, she has created many lasting relationships among other volunteers, caseworkers, educators, and individuals in our community. She helps where she is able, and people recognize that. She inspires many individuals through her work in recovery services and education and others lead by example. Having someone with the lived expertise that Trina has is like having a priceless asset, someone who has been on both sides of the system that many struggle to get through. That, in itself, is incredibly inspiring. She is the perfect example of 'giving back to the community.'
