Hero Story

Mike Malloy has served with the Commission on Aging for 7 years. In this capacity he has made a significant contribution to our community Senior Citizens. Mike drives a Meals on Wheels route and delivers meals to home-bound seniors 3-5 times per week. In this capacity, he not only delivers meals...he checks on their well-being and if something is amiss, he lets the staff know so that the client's contact person can check on them. Mike has identified situations where seniors have fallen and can't get up, frozen pipes, gas leaks, etc. Mike is often the only contact the home-bound Senior Citizen has from someone that day. His Seniors on his route look forward to his visits and his unwavering care for them sets him apart. Mike also makes sure that the trucks are in good repair and utilizes his background from years of services at GM in this endeavor. He also assists in the kitchen with packing coolers with food and getting the meals ready for delivery. Mike also assists with training other volunteers and promoting the program to the communities Antrim County serves.
