Since 2016, Love a Michigan Vet Project has made a profound impact on the lives of Michigan veterans and their families through their unwavering dedication and commitment. They provide a wide range of essential resources, including referrals for counseling, housing, GI Bill assistance, legal aid, and information about discounts and employment opportunities.
Love a Michigan Vet Project has adopted nearly 100 veterans and their families for Christmas, ensuring they receive gifts and Christmas dinner. They also assist local veteran shelters by organizing Christmas parties and providing dinner along with essential items like backpacks filled with necessities. Additionally, they host monthly dinners for veterans at the Emmanuel Recovery House in Detroit, celebrating birthdays, providing essential items, and fostering a sense of community and support. They also organize various fundraisers throughout the year, such as music bingo, bottle drives, quatermania, and candy selling, to raise funds for their initiatives. Their annual Women's Standdown event provides a shop for 250-300 women veterans to access free clothing and other necessities, along with support from vendors offering services and giveaways.
