Mary Lamparter is deeply committed to community service, with a significant focus on her activities with Guardian Angels Medical Service Dogs. As the Regional Coordinator for Michigan, she has dedicated over nine years to volunteering with the organization. Mrs. Lamparter’ s responsibilities encompass coordinating significant events, such as Celebrate Michigan’s Military, and playing a key role in fundraising initiatives. These efforts are crucial for supporting the training and pairing of service dogs with veterans and first responders. Additionally, she formed the Ambassadors, a group of individuals that also serves as a liaison between Michigan recipients and various organizational events. Mrs. Lamparter’s drive to work with Guardian Angels originates from her desire to assist veterans and first responders. Although she has never served in the military, she views her involvement as her contribution to honoring those who have. Her work is fueled by the powerful narratives of the recipients and her knack for networking and fundraising. Hosting the Celebrate Michigan’s Military event is among her significant contributions, through which she garners substantial support for the organization's mission. Her efforts over the past 9 years fundraising through the CMM event, has raised over a $1,250,000 enabling many service dogs to be raised, trained and paired with a veteran or first responder, which has profoundly affected the lives of the recipients.
Mrs. Lamparter spent 8 years serving on the board of the Grosse Pointe War Memorial with 4 of those years as board secretary. Through her terms of office, she helped make decisions to build a new $20,000,000 addition to the facility. She and her husband were major financial donors to bring an amazing 25’ x 40’ stainless steel monument to the grounds of the War Memorial called Les Braves II, At Water’s Edge. This monument is a twin to the one that sits on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France and is dedicated to those individuals that lost their lives in WWII. This monument is only the second one in the world and it sits in the middle of the Arsenal of Democracy in Grosse Pointe and Detroit, Michigan. These are both accomplishments of which she is very proud.
