Hero Story

Judy Paulsen has been a volunteer with Livingston County 4-H for 43 years. During her time as a 4-H leader, she has been instrumental in growing the program to what it is today. Judy brought STEAM programs to Livingston County before 4-H had put emphasis on them, served as lead chaperone for 4-H Exploration Days for many years, has served on 4-H Council in a variety of roles, and has coordinated and hosted county wide workshops for many years, among other accomplishments. She has been a key leader in promotion of 4H at countless events such as but not limited to: community fairs, farmers markets, commissioner meetings, township meetings, schools and so much more for many years sharing the message of 4-H and empowering youth to do the same alongside her through her guidance. Judy has coordinated highway cleanup service projects, tie blankets for local police departments to use for children and youth in need, coordinated fundraising efforts for a local family that lost their home in a fire, and much more. She leads the largest 4-H club in our county, and now has many of her early 4-H youth members returning in adulthood to both volunteer to help her club, and so that their own children can experience 4-H. Our program would not be nearly as strong and well rounded as it is today without her incredible input.
