Bread of Life Food Pantry represents a team of volunteers with deep commitment to supporting healthy food access for everyone in Lake County. Their small team logged over 7500 hours in 2022. Even though the pantry is only open for four hours one day a week, they continue to serve an average of 120 families during that timeframe. They have embraced the Voices for Food Choice Pantry model by creating a grocery store style shopping experience that empowers families and focuses on access to fresh, healthy food options. They don't just provide food, they build relationships. Community members comment on how they feel welcome, heard, and cared for. When people speak of Lake County they often reference the poverty in this area, but what they miss is the strong "family" of committed individuals who see light at the end of the tunnel. They dream big about the future health and prosperity of the beautiful community they live in, believing that their small actions will make a difference. Their devotion is contagious and they are creating a bridge that draws this community together.
