Keep Genesee County Beautiful (KGCB) was created in 2004 as a Keep America Beautiful affiliate with the mission to encourage, educate, and engage the community in ongoing cleanup and beautification of Genesee County. In 2016 it became a program of the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission. The vision of KGCB is for beautiful, clean, and sustainable neighborhoods, parks and open spaces in Flint and Genesee County. KGCB has filled in the need for services provided to parks and public spaces, especially within in the City of Flint, by creating a network of passionate volunteers. The organization has advocated for Flint’s parks and public spaces and helped pave ways toward equitable maintenance. In the past 6 years, KGCB has helped to erect 38 new playgrounds within the City of Flint, a much-needed improvement for the youth of this city. Not only does KGCB seek out and provide park and garden improvement funding, but also funding and resources for their volunteer network to help with cleanups and other programming.
