Hero Story

I was extremely impressed when I learned and visited R1SE a fun, engaging, educational facility designed to help students reach new heights.
R1SE is an innovative academic company providing a one-of-a-kind student experience that is reshaping the future. R1SE supports students with a team of educators inside state-of-the-art facilities. Students are provided mentorship that shapes the lives of youth. They have received outstanding accolades from students and parents who have benefited from their services. Countless students did not realize they had the ability to truly leave a positive imprint on the world. R1SE has turned around countless students’ lives by pushing good students higher while also flipping Es into As with struggling students. No place is perfect, but I must say the feedback and results from parents have been close to perfect, which is phenomenal.

I heard about R1SE inadvertently on a casual morning from a father who was boasting about a career change that his son had made. He shared how his son loved teaching and supporting students, but he had a unique way to empower children's overall character. Trevor developed an "outside the box" approach in his classroom providing a better environment for students that are creative, innovative, hands-on learners, and kinesthetic learners. What appeared some weird idea and a feeling he was meant to do more, Trevor created R1SE in hopes of easing the burden on hard working parents while supporting students socially, emotionally, and educationally. Due to the impact it has made this outstanding team has worked with well over 1,000 students and they currently have over 500 students attending. As the popularity of R1SE exploded in the Tri-Cities area, R1SE is in its 4th year in Freeland, MI and their 1st year in Midland. I believe many other communities will work to have a R1SE in their community. We can change the mindset of students allowing them to know they can achieve higher standards. The environment and support can make an overwhelming difference.

Drawn from his passion to teach and coach Trevor spent 15 years in education as a 4th & 5th grade teacher, Middle School technology coach, and Head Varsity Basketball Coach. Prior to that, Trevor ran youth sports camps and leagues for Thomas Township Parks and Recreation. He has a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree+30 in Administration. He has the learning and the burning to transform our youth.

I believe parents and children in the state of Michigan will greatly benefit by providing a program such as this. As a Commissioner, father, community advocate my desire is to see a program such as this in our urban communities making it affordable for children to grow and learn. Please take a look at the state of the art facilities and you willet a glimpse of the great work that is going forth.
