Maureen Lietz
Rochester Hills
Hero Story
For over a decade, Maureen has helped the community understand Alzheimer's and Dementia. While caring for her mother for years, she learned so much about these diseases, and how it affects the family. Many families are in denial, others think they are helping, but they aren't. Maureen (Moe) has brought forth countless Purple Page Talks, where she speaks candidly about Alzheimer's and Dementia.
Sparkle Network holds fundraisers throughout the year to help her community. She hosts two Comedy Events annually; Scholarships; Prom and Homecoming projects for high school girls who want to go, but not be able to afford a dress; Girl's Night Out; and so much more. Moe is always giving.
The mission of Sparkle Network is to create awareness and a voice to those who deserve it by uniting charity, comedy, communities, and business.
In Moe's words, "It's so much fun to see what can be done, and how people are so willing to help, when they learn the story of what's trying to be accomplished."
In my words, "Moe is an inspiration. So many people want things to be different, but they don't take action to make a difference. Moe makes a difference, daily, in the lives of so many. She has helped me understand my father in law who has dementia, and her Purple Page Talks have been shared throughout our family so we can all understand who this strong man has become. Moe is so selfless, always wanting to help however she can. Many people try to do the right thing, and help where they can, but what we do is nothing compared to what Moe has done and continues to do. Her continued efforts to help people understand Alzheimer's and Dementia, to bring comic relief to us, and to help these young women achieve their dreams of feeling beautiful, is amazing. I nominate Moe, because she is not just an inspiration to me, but to all who know her."
