Hero Story

I've worked as a Direct Support Professional with people with Developmental and intellectual disabilities for 28 years and with Sarah for over 10 years, both as a fellow Direct Support Professional and with her running her agency Independent Community Living. I've never seen any in more willing to advocate for our often over looked population of citizens. She fights every day for their right for self determination and autonomy in a system that want people to be cookie cutter and easily categorized she sees each individuals strengths and how we can help them live their best lives with their wants and needs above all. Not only is she an excellent advocate for our clients, she is also an amazing manager of her employees, both kind and accessable to her team. She is a hero in my eyes.
