Hero Story

Keshia has been a voice for the people in kalamazoo since her first years of attending Western Michigan University in the early 90’s. She is the first woman of color to become a Road Commissioner for the county of Kalamazoo. Her impact has been to be at the tables and spaces where reorientations matters. Her positive attitude and never meeting a stranger spirit has lead to connecting many people in Kalamazoo from all different walks of life. Keshia has helped network and connect thousands of families in Kalamazoo. Her new business venture of creating a woman owned staffing company that is geared towards helping people in the kalamazoo community to find and be placed with gainful employment. Her staffing company offered weekly resume building and interview strategy workshops for the community. Keshia has partnered with community members to make sure they are mindful of those that do not have traditional education when it comes to job search and sustainability. Her staffing company will serve those who were recently incarcerated.
