Simran, while young is extremely passionate and dedicated to service. She truly enjoys helping others and loves to engage in service learning. Her connection with 4-H begin at the age of 5, which is the earliest youth can become a 4-H member, and ever since then she has continued to stay connected with 4-H. Early on and throughout the pandemic, Simran has been a bright light during a scary and uncertain time. During the first few weeks of the shutdown, she looked to engage with other youth and share perspectives on the pandemic through virtual presentations. She donated over 300 activity books for youth in 4-H to use at home as a way to have fun while continuing learning. Simran raised more than 5000 books for the Children's Hospital of Michigan. She also donated 12 tablets to the Detroit students, which allowed youth that didn't have access to technology to stay connected in a strictly virtual world. Simran stayed positive and passionate about connecting with others and during the pandemic began her own virtual STEM club which continues to meet weekly to connect with other youth and explore and engage in science activities, presentations, and demonstrations. Simran's desire to serve and educate goes beyond community service and STEM. She has also been engaged in 4-H Global and Cultural education projects, helping to educate our 5-7 year-olds on cultural celebrations including Diwali and sharing her personal experience, and reading her favorite books on the festival. Simran is truly a unique and genuinely caring young person, who in her short time on Earth has completed many enduring acts of service and education. She has completed more than 260 volunteer hours in the past 3 years of running her STEM club and other community activities. She is truly an inspiration to our community.
