Hero Story
As a company, we’re involved in numerous efforts to improve the world around us through financial giving, community initiatives and volunteer programs. We are devoted to providing a helping hand to individuals, communities and nonprofit organizations through various charitable programs focused on building a better global community. Beyond financial contributions, Stellantis (formed in early 2021 between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Group PSA) encourages its salaried employees to donate their time, energy and expertise in the communities where they live and work. At Stellantis we are committed to fostering an employee volunteer engagement program that encourages employees to “Be An Engine for Change” in the communities where they live and work through the Motor Citizens program.
Through the Motor Citizens program, Stellantis employees can volunteer 18 hours of paid time off for individual and company-sponsored community service projects. Our employees engage in purposeful community efforts that have a particular focus on creating sustainable cities and communities. We focus volunteer efforts into key categories of education (mentoring, tutors, STEM), basic needs (hunger, clothing, shelter), environmental (invasive species, watershed, wildlife) and community-focused events (clean ups, board ups, beautification). The Motor Citizens program primarily supports communities in southeast Michigan in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Genesee, Monroe, St. Clair and Lenawee counties. However, the program’s impact extends beyond Michigan, providing support wherever Stellantis employees work and live throughout the United States and worldwide through the support of disaster relief efforts.
Since the program was launched in 2014, North American-based Stellantis employees have contributed more than 305,000 hours. In 2019 (prior to COVID), approximately 11,450 Michigan-based Stellantis employees volunteered more than 48,500 volunteer hours, contributing their time and talents to nearly 1,500 community service projects. Stellantis employees also serve on nonprofit boards. Some of these board appointments include the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Michigan, Michigan Science Center and United Way of Southeastern Michigan.
Recognizing the important role that charitable organizations play in contributing to the quality of life in Michigan, the FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, invests in U.S. charitable organizations and initiatives that help empower people, build strong, resilient communities and generate meaningful and measurable societal impacts.
In 2019 and 2020, the Foundation awarded $8,850,000 in grants, the majority of those dollars benefiting Michigan residents through charitable organizations.
In response to the COVID pandemic in 2020, FCA provided 15.7 meals to children who were facing food insecurity due to the transition to virtual learning and over 9.5M face masks to organizations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
