Hero Story

Yumeika Perry has been serving the children and families at Learning Links Academy for 3 years. During the pandemic, she sought out food pantries and school supplies for virtual students. She also provided virtual mindfulness meditations for the children, and upon their return, she provided mindfulness mediation. This really impacted our children and families that have experienced grief, loss, and trauma during the pandemic. I have noticed how my students and parents are more engaged in the learning process. The children at Learning Links Academy range from ages 2.5 to 12 years of age, and I was amazed that parents sent videos of their 4-year-olds mediating. She is such a joy to be around and the kids love her!! In three years, she has serviced over 60 families. The special thing about the service she provides is Mrs. Perry is able to tap into a population that would normally not have access to mediation, food delivery, and supplies for their children. She really help my parents stay engaged during the pandemic. I really appreciate her and she is our Learning Links Academy hero.
