Daniel Cascardo
Huntington Woods
Hero Story
Daniel (Danny) Cascardo is a talented artist who used his God given talents to provide a creative outlet when most needed. In May 2020, Danny was sending original line drawings to frontline workers, caregivers, and those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing light to their lives during a time of darkness. About 100 days after starting his Color in Cascardo challenge, Danny decided to channel his artistry in a way to allow impact on many more individuals. Danny decided to create a coloring book that was provided to frontline workers, caregivers, and elderly rehab centers to help promote healing and recovery of fine motor skills.
Danny provided a healthy creative outlet for all those struggling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a healthcare worker who was tremendously affected by the onset of the pandemic and who received a coloring book created by Mr. Cascardo, I can confidently say that this calming outlet, the positivity and hope transmitted through his designs, and the pure talent in the details of each drawing allowed not only myself but also my colleagues relief when we were at our wit's end surrounded by death and illness. I, on behalf of all those who were touched by Danny’s contribution, would like to thank him for being the positivity needed in this dark world. Daniel Cascardo–not only during these trying times but also through his entire body of work–has encompassed the words once spoken by the Blessed Mother Theresa, “It is not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.”
