Laurie Geralds

Madison Heights

Hero Story

Laurie Geralds has been a cornerstone of volunteerism in Madison Heights for over 40 years. She is a driving force that has made many ideas come to life and provided countless benefits to a community of all ages. As a City Manager, I know I can depend on Laurie for any project or need. She is a leader in GFWC Madison Heights Women's Club and has longstanding connections throughout the community allowing her to be able to recruit volunteers in a short amount of time. This has been priceless for assistance from storm cleanup, welfare checks, and litter pickup to special event planning. She is always ready to say yes to anything the community needs.

In addition to assisting with emergency needs, Laurie started and leads MAD (Make a Difference) Mondays to encourage volunteers to take small steps to make their community a better place. Here is an example: https://www.facebook.com/GFWCMHWC/posts/3023739597847906 She organizes different "projects" on Mondays in the summer and works to involve residents of all ages, teaching the benefits of volunteering in the city where you live. Laurie is a key force in the Madison Heights Arts Board and organized and participates in the annual Madison Heights Pumpkin Walk. She is also active in Madison Heights Citizen United, the Madison Heights Food Pantry, and the Memorial Day Parade Committee and Veteran's Day ceremony. Our Madison Heights community is a better place because Laurie Geralds is a part of it.
