Albatoul Bahloul is caring and compassionate – serving the underserved in the community is only natural for her. She does it without seeking anything in return, very selflessly and with utmost love, despite a tight schedule balancing her education, part-time work, and family. In the months before the pandemic, Bahloul successfully led the Halimah Project, a youth mentorship program wherein MSU students helped to mentor dozens of refugee children and make them feel welcome and assimilated. In 2020, despite the lockdown and the risks posed by the pandemic, Bahloul organized food distribution drives and delivered food boxes to Greater Lansing's refugee and other vulnerable populations.
Additionally, she delivered masks, donated by the community, to the elderly and vulnerable of the area. Bahloul's efforts put food on the tables of hundreds of deserving families and helped vulnerable people feel safe and equipped to handle the pandemic. Her acts inspired several dozen youth to join her in her efforts. Her organization and leadership ensured successful food distribution drives. Balhoul's service is unique because it is so passionate and freely given; she's been a champion of interfaith activities and social justice activism. Her loving care for people is reflected in her work. Recognizing her will go a long way in thanking her for her contributions and hopefully inspire other young girls to follow Balhoul's lead in serving their communities.
