Hero Story
Erika is a Senior Neuroscience major at Michigan State University on the premed track. Her dream is to become a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. In her free time, she volunteers with The Listening Ear Crisis Intervention Center in Lansing which provides crisis counseling to those in need. In addition to being involved with the crisis center, she also volunteers with StudentsCare which pairs students with hospitalized children to provide companionship. She especially enjoyed connecting with callers or the children she interacts with during this pandemic as social interactions in-person are limited. Erika has been volunteering for several years, but her volunteer service during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2019-2021 has been incredible and I wanted to lift her up as a hero!
