Blue Star Mothers #184

Flat Rock

Hero Story

These moms and grandmothers of active duty military and veterans know the heartbreak of separation when a child chooses to serve our country and the post traumatic stress or physical loss that their child may suffer as a result of his/her service. These Blue Star Mothers send packages to those deployed, sew masks and make neck rests for veterans undergoing chemotherapy, make bravery buddies for children who have a parent deployed, provide food and warm socks for homeless veterans, honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives, and do whatever they can to ensure each veteran and men and women serving know they are valuable.

When someone is in a foreign country away from their families, there is a loneliness others cannot understand, but the Blue Star Mothers send letters and packages to let them know they are appreciated. Often when sharing stories of their own children, tears are shed, but there is also a joy in knowing that even at home, there is something we can do for others. The Blue Star Mothers of America Chapter #184 embody that spirit.
