Hero Story

Each year Nkenge performs a community service project in honor of her birthday as her way "to share her blessings". Considering the added challenges the pandemic has presented to women and children residing in the YWCA shelter, Nkenge wanted to add an additional celebration for them. She shared that instead of gifts, she encourages friends "to sow into" the project she has chosen and allows friends the entire month of January to contribute gifts. Thanks to Nkenge's generosity, enough gifts were provided to celebrate the birthdays of every adult and child at YWCA for the entire year.
