Hero Story

Alyssa Ewell has a strong interest in community service and helping others. She works hard planning philanthropic events at Michigan State University for students that want to volunteer their time to good causes in the community. In the last few years that Alyssa has attended MSU, her service projects have allowed students to create handmade items for donations to homeless shelters and hospitals around East Lansing. She is also a member of TRIO Scholars, where Alyssa serves as an academic coach to connect with 25 first-generation college students and those who meet certain income criteria or have documented disabilities. There, she ensures students are equipped with resources to help them to best adapt and engage in opportunities inside and outside of the classroom. Her service efforts are not limited to MSU, she is part of a number of organizations across the state that have a focus on volunteerism, helping Michigan become a better place for all.
