Michael Kotsovos
Troy
Hero Story
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, Michael Kotsovos had his mind set on helping others in need. The pandemic had exacerbated the need for many household items—especially for low-income families. After collecting donations from family and friends, Michael helped address these needs by creating DIY kits with his mother that contained anything from games, puzzles, and coloring activities to shampoos and soaps. United Way for Southeastern Michigan began offering the DIY Kits as a safe way for volunteers to help the 44% of Southeastern Michigan families who were already struggling to meet their basic needs before the pandemic and now need additional support. The kits were distributed to the Hospitality House Food Pantry in Commerce and Care House of Oakland County. Michael went above and beyond for his local community—he is a great example of an upcoming leader!
